INDIVIDUALIZED OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY
Our philosophy promotes reaching independence through play and function. We believe that children are more prepared to reach their goals when therapy is provided in the spaces where children spend their time, naturally, so they can better generalize their skills and find confidence throughout the process! Occupations are strengthened through meaningful engagement in real-life scenarios. Whether support is needed in the home, at a playground, in a preschool class, at a grocery store, or anywhere in between, we will come to you!
Who Might We Help?
We work with infants, children, and adolescents across all stages of development, alongside the entire family, and any other supportive members of a child’s care team.
From a fussy infant with regulatory or feeding challenges to a toddler missing developmental milestones. A preschooler with attention concerns to a kindergartner with difficulty writing letters. A school-age child having difficulty learning to ride a bike or keeping up with peers to a teenager learning life skills as they prepare to move into adulthood. And everything in-between!
Through addressing these skills in the child’s natural environments, you can expect to learn practical, real-life tools to enhance the progress that your child will make with us. Our belief is that children can access the “thinking” parts of their brain if, and only if, they feel safe to do so. Our expertise in sensory integration, paired with our ability to develop meaningful connections with each family, has led to impactful change time and again.
PAIRINGS & GROUPS
We believe that empowerment comes through successes in social interactions with others. At Kids on the POINT OT, we teach children how to problem solve the social world, how to become confident communicators, and how to advocate for their individual needs in life. Humans are social beings, and we are here to break down the skills necessary to connect kids to life and others, through paired and group sessions.
PARENT COACHING
Many families find great benefit in additional professional support outside of their child’s weekly therapy session. Whether you are searching for solutions on how to structure your home environment to build in calm spaces, how to implement consistent language between caregivers at home, how to build in transition tools, increase success with participation of daily tasks at home, support school success, work on sibling dynamics, etc. we are here to help! Consultations can be provided via phone, online, or in person within the context of your home or community.
SAFE & SOUND DELIVERY
The Safe and Sound Protocol is a neurophysiological listening therapy that is scientifically supported to regulate the nervous system, for improved attention, arousal, and social engagement. It can be woven into your child’s therapy, or used as a stand alone service. Visit the What is Safe and Sound website to learn more!
EQUIPMENT RENTALS
Whether it’s board games, yard games, gross motor equipment, scooters, swings, books, and just about anything in between, we are excited to offer families the opportunity to rent therapeutic equipment for home programming either between therapy sessions, or in conjunction to a consultative or coaching model of care.
SPEAKING ENGAGEMENTS
From teacher workshops, to university “career path” events, to parent groups, and everything in between, we are here to share our passion for sensory integration and the profound impact it has on development. Topics range from understanding sensory integration and how it impacts learning, practical strategies to improve co-regulation and finding the calm after a storm, beyond behaviors and getting curious with children of all abilities, and much more!
